Frequently Asked Questions

Q:  Does Psi Phi Delta haze their pledges?

A:  Absolutely not.  Hazing was eliminated from our membership program a long time ago.  It has no place in a modern Fraternity, and we do not condone it.

Q:  Will my son's grades suffer as a result of joining your Fraternity?

A:  Honestly, that depends on your son.  For the majority of students, grades improve after joining the Fraternity.  We put a strong emphasis on academics, and living with other students provides great opportunities for study groups and cross-pollination of knowledge.

We are a social organization, however.  If you child decides to focus all their attention on fun and frolic, and neglects their primary purpose for being at college -- to gain an education -- then it is inevitable that his grades will suffer.

We do everything we can to help our members achieve good grades.  In the end, however, it takes their focus and hard work for success.

Q.  Aren't Fraternities a relic of the past?  Why would anyone join a Fraternity in this day and age?

A:  The virtues we hold dear -- leadership, team work, camaraderie, community service -- will never go out of style.  Without exception, Psi Phi Delta members leave Potsdam with more confidence, responsibility and social skills than the average college student.  The shared responsibilities and adversity faced by the membership helps instill these qualities in the young men that enjoy the Fraternal experience.

It is not coincidental that nearly half of the United States Presidents were Fraternity members.
